Is it possible to list files and or urls directly under a category folder without having to put the file or link into an article? For example, could I show a list of files and links when I click on a parent or child category folder?

    Thanks

Do you mean just as per the category listing?

e.g. If you look on the KBPublisher Knowledgebase, something like: http://www.kbpublisher.com/kb/5/

Yes, for urls something like this. How do I go about this? And is it also possible to show links directly to files?

    Thank you for your response.

For articles, I am using the category Id as the link.
    i.e. http://www.yourdomain.com/kb/categoryid.

e.g. On the KBPublisher site the Remote Authentication category is category 51, so the link is http://www.kbpublisher.com/kb/51/.

It's similar for files, except that there is a 'files' folder as well. i.e. http://www.yourdomain.kb/files/filecategoryid

e.g. Our language pack downloads category is "11", so the links to the language pack files on KBPublisher are http://www.kbpublisher.com/kb/files/11/.

'kb' here is the directory in which you installed KBPublisher.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you. That does help me to understand how to create a link to an article or file but I'm still confused about how to create the link without having to first create an article. I only see "add new" article in the admin section but no way to just create a link to a file directly within a category. Do I first have to create an article with a title and description? I merely want to create a link within the category folder.

Sorry. I went back and re-read your original question.

No. Categories will only link to things you have added via "Add New" or via the mirror categories functionality.

If you want to point to another article that already exists in the knowledgebase, use mirror categories. If you want to create a link that doesn't already exist, then yes, the only way is to put that into an article.

There are two sections in KB
    "Articles"
    example: http://www.kbpublisher.com/kb/

    "Downloads"
    example: http://www.kbpublisher.com/kb/files/

All your added files could be listed in "Download Area" without need to create an article.
Check your setting "Settings -> Knowledgebase -> Display 'Files' link" to enable "Download Area" in public view
